Think green and spruce up your home with plants! The color green is always in style when it comes to house plants. Herbs

Bringing potted herbs into your home is beneficial in multiple ways. First, you’re adding air purifying greenery but they also smell great and you can also snip off pieces of your growing herbs to use them in your cooking and baking. Easily accessible herbs in your own kitchen that you don’t have to purchase at a store? Win + Win + Win! Some of the most common herbs to keep inside the home include basil (pictured above), parsley, dill, oregano, and cilantro. Keep in mind that herbs love sun so place the pots near a sunny window.

Large Leaf or Full Plants

There are many varieties of house plants that grow with larger leaves or are taller and can liven up larger spaces. Some common and hardy house plants include Phylodendron, Spider plant, and the Snake plant (pictured above). Phylodendron likes bright indirect sunlight and grows well and is easy to split into new pots. Spider plants also prefer bright indirect sunlight but will tolerate low light situations. Snake plants are great for new plant owners because they are low maintenance requiring low light conditions and requiring less watering, meaning they’re more forgiving if you forget to water regularly.

Plants Requiring Less Water

Adding green to your space doesn’t always mean more water usage. There are many beautiful indoor plants that require little water and overall maintenance. Consider potted cacti (pictured above) and succulents. Both options require less water than other types of house plants. Cacti need 4-6hours of sunlight but waterings only weekly or less  but the soil does need to dry out in between waterings. For Succulents, watering may be needed 2-3 times per week during the growing season depending on the amount of sunlight the plants receive but in the winter time, they typically require infrequent waterings.

With so many varieties of house plants, you are sure to find many that fit your style, environment and lifestyle. Add some greenery to your space to lift your mood, elevate your style, create a cozy atmosphere and even enhance your culinary experience.

Cheers!
